A Day of Wine, Pizza, and Great Company
On Saturday morning, March 28, twenty YSC members and guests boarded a shuttle bound for the vineyards of Livermore. The festive atmosphere began early, with a few seasoned travelers preparing mimosas to enjoy as the bus made its pickup stops in San Francisco and downtown Oakland.
Our first destination was Longevity, where we arrived around 12:30 PM. The staff greeted us warmly and seated our group in a beautiful, spacious tasting room. We enjoyed a flight featuring a sparkling rosé, two whites, and three reds—and thanks to a few “technical difficulties” with the automatic pour stoppers, some of us enjoyed a few very generous servings!
Next, we headed to Charles R. Vineyard. Though we arrived a bit behind schedule, Bonnie and her team welcomed us with open arms. We spent the afternoon on a lush back patio, where we participated in a fascinating barrel tasting to compare fresh wine straight from the oak to older vintages. To top it off, a local food pop-up served delicious Mexican-inspired pizzas. We were enjoying ourselves so much that we decided to skip our planned stop in downtown Livermore to stay a little longer.
With bags full of newly purchased bottles, we began the trek back to the city. The high spirits continued all the way home, but the fun didn’t end at the drop-off. The group decided to keep the party going, heading to board member Dave Conroy’s house to wrap up a perfect day of friendship and fine wine.
