- We will start at the Año Nuevo State Park where a docent naturalist will lead a journey to view a large colony of Northern elephant seals. In the month of December, male elephant seals arrive along the shore of Año Nuevo State Park to establish hierarchy, while pregnant females come ashore to birth to their pups.
- Then we will head to Half Moon Bay for drinks and a late lunch. Lunch will be at Taqueria Tres Amigos 270 Cabrillo Hwy S Half Moon Bay, CA 94019. Lunch is not included in the ticket price and is self paid.
- Elephant seal walks are conducted rain or shine. Winter weather can be very cold and windy, even on sunny days. Rain is frequent and the trail may be muddy with small puddles.
- Visitors should bring hooded rain gear, a warm jacket, layered clothing, and sturdy walking shoes. Bring water for drinking on the trail.
- Binoculars are helpful for seeing seals further out on the beaches and on the island.
